Cynthia LaBrake recieved her BS in Chemistry with Honors from West Virginia University in 1987 and her PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from Loyola University Chicago in 1992.  She conpleted a one year post doctoral fellowship at Loyola before relocating with her family to Austin in 1993.  She has been teaching chemistry at UT Austin since 1996.  She currently lives with her husband of 28 years, Dwayne also a chemist,  in Cedar Park, TX.  Together they are the parents of three boys.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback), volunteering with Young Men's Service League and serving as a school board member on the St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School board of directors.
