We, as a department, strive to create a community that embraces diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of education, research, service, outreach, and mentoring. We are reeling from the recent events that have shaken our nation. In addition, we emphatically renounce the perspective conveyed in a recent article in Angewandte Chemie that disparaged hiring practices, programs and scientific forums that advance universal concepts of diversity and inclusivity.
Within our department we continue our efforts to create a welcoming and supportive environment where students, staff, and faculty of all backgrounds can thrive scientifically and grow as citizens. We encourage all of you to reflect on your own contributions and commitments to advancing diversity and inclusivity and help us empower our community to reach these goals.
