Women in Chemistry is proud to present a career exploration event entitled “Your Career in Chemistry: Thinking Outside the Beaker” on Saturday, February 23, 2008, 8:30am-5pm, in Welch Hall. Unlike college-wide career fairs, this event will specifically address the many career options available to you with a bachelors or advanced degree in chemistry or biochemistry. This event is free to everyone.

The Keynote Speaker, Dr. E. Ann Nalley, immediate past president of the American Chemical Society, will speak at 9 am on "Chemistry: The Career Which Will Help You Become the Swan You Want to Be". A continental breakfast will be available beginning at 8:30am.

Six panel discussions have been assembled to gain experienced professionals’ understanding of careers in six different areas: Industry, Academia, Secondary Education, Government, Law and Environmental Organizations, and Alternative Careers.

A career workshop by an ACS career consultant as well as resume reviews and mock interviews (free pre-registration required) will be available to help you get on track to finding your dream job!

Exhibit Tables will be set up all day, and manned during lunchtime. Exhibitors include L’Oreal (Cosmetic Chemistry), URS (Environmental Chemistry), Pfizer (Pharmaceutical Sales), Boehringer-Ingelheim (Pharmaceutical Research and Development), Freescale (Semiconductor Industry), Oxford University Press (offering copies of the book “Alternative Careers in Chemistry” for sale), ACC Biotechnology Program, UTeach, UT Chemistry Library, UT student ACS, and the NS Career Services Office.
