Improvements to Welch courtyard planned

Construction will begin this summer on substantial improvements to the Welch courtyard. In an effort to make the courtyard a comfortable and engaging study and gathering space for our students, electrical plugs will be installed to complement the existing wireless internet access, and misters, fans and shade coverings will be added to control temperature. Landscaping and movable seating will also be added along with a water fountain to bring a calming running water sound to the space. The renovated courtyard will also feature an espresso vendor to provide students with easy access to refreshments and snacks. The department is very excited about these renovations, which are scheduled for completion by the start of the fall 2009 semester.
