The Mass Spectrometry Facility, in collaboration with the Meeks lab at UT Southwestern Medical Center, recently published a paper in Nature Communications.
“Faecal bile acids are natural ligands of the mouse accessory olfactory system”
The paper indicates that bile acids may be mammalian pheromones. Electrophysiological recordings obtained from mouse neurons in ex vivo preparations were correlated to chemical differences determined by mass spectrometry.
