Professor Allen Bard elected to the inaugural group of Fellows of the American Chemical Society

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is pleased to announce that Professor Allen Bard has been elected by his peers in the American Chemical Society to the inaugural group of the Fellows of the American Chemical Society.

This program was created “to recognize members of the American Chemical Society for outstanding achievements in and contributions to Science, the Profession, and the Society.” While awards from ACS often recognize distinction in a specific area such as teaching or research, nomination as a Fellow is specifically intended to recognize global excellence on part of a particular scientist. In order to be nominated as a Fellow, an ACS member must demonstrate excellence in his or her profession as well as outstanding service to the American Chemical Society. This nomination is a true honor and Professor Bard's selection to the inaugural group speaks volumes to his value and contributions to the scientific community. According to ACS, "the body of Fellows is intended to reach approximately 1-2% of ACS membership."
