NuvoNuro, a company recently co-founded by Professor Stephen Martin based upon his research at UT, has received a major NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term® (HEAL) Initiative grant. The grant is part of the research program Development and Optimization of Non-Addictive Therapies to Treat Pain and NuvoNuro is one of 19 recipients in the program since 2019. HEAL aims to accelerate the discovery of solutions to one of our gravest public health emergencies: the national opioid crisis. This multi-year grant supports the development of a first-in-class, non-opioid drug to treat neuropathic pain.
