Research Overview

Chemical Biology is an emerging field which combines the synthetic methods of chemistry and quantitative approach physics to understand and manipulate biological systems. The chemical biology focus area in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Texas is aimed at providing a strong skillset to students by tailoring the research experience and coursework and leveraging the collaborative research opportunities across departments including the Department of Chemistry, Molecular Biosciences, Chemical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.

The Chemical Biology Program Offers Students:

  • A unique training experience that is tailored to the individual research interests
  • Strong, collaborative, community of research faculty which are leading members of their fields
  • Interdisciplinary, collaborative research experiences involving multiple labs
  • State-of-the-art instrumentation and research facilities
